October is here, and boy oh boy can you feel it in Colorado! “Brrrrrrr-itos!” There is a chill in the air, and the leaves are starting to change color. October’s Menu Plan has 38 kid-friendly recipes with lots of hidden vegetables!
I’m really in love with October’s menu. It has 10 slow cooker recipes and includes 3 new recipes exclusive with the weekly breakdown on Etsy. Celebrate Halloween with a fun twist on beaners & wieners, and enjoy making my easy 20 Minute Mummy Pizzas with your kiddos on Halloween night.
After shopping around, and finding the best deals, I was able to get all of the ingredients for Octobers menu for only $279. This doesn’t include the pantry and fridge items. Like I said, and if you’ve been following Mom’s Bistro for a while, you’ll know that I shop around. If you pay close attention the sales at your local grocery stores rotate, so by shopping smart, and knowing when and where things go sale you can really watch the savings pile up! Add coupons to that and your set!
When creating the grocery list each month, I like to shop for a lot of my grocery items at Walmart. Shopping at Walmart helps because the prices are pretty much the same across the US. Costco is another great place to save money. I like to buy my meat, frozen items and cheese at Costco. **Get your butter here too** For the remaining ingredients on my list, I shop my local grocery stores flyers. Produce is best from Sprouts. I buy produce fresh at the beginning of each week. For other dairy items, I’ll shop between Safeway and King Soopers (Kroger). I’ve even found some really great deals at Whole Foods that are completely within my budget. Also consider downloading your local grocery stores loyalty card app. With a simple swipe, the savings add up. By using our card, our grocery stores even send out personalized coupons for free items, or to save on the items that I purchase most. Another way to save is to use iBotta. If you haven’t heard about it before, iBotta is an app that you download, and you scan in your receipt and you get rebates back on items that you buy. For example last week I bought a box of Sugar Crisp cereal at Walmart, and with the app I got $1 back. Once you hit $20 of savings on the card, you can cash it out, or keep building the savings. My Mom introduced me to iBotta, and she’s up to about $150 worth of savings from shopping. They offer rebates for online shopping too. Check it out, and if you use this link, you get a $5 bonus from iBotta for signing up! http://ibotta.com/r/hqsrpvf
