Happy August! In only a couple weeks, school will be back in session, and things will go back to normal. August 2017’s menu is really fun, and the budget for it was pretty low – only $238 for a MONTH of dinners! The week of back-to-school is filled with fun, kid-friendly favorites including; macaroni and cheese, corn dog bites and tacos!
I’m definitely not ready for summer to be over yet. I’m having hard time with this. But, I guess I have to adult, and get over it… I think the hardest part for me about all of this is that my baby is going into FIRST grade. So last year, I complained that my baby was going to kindergarten, but to be honest, this is worse. He’s grown up sooooo much over the summer, and first grade is real school – big boy school… Why can’t we just freeze time. Right here in it’s tracks. He’s so perfect. This is the best age… Mommy isn’t ready for this.
Ok.. so now that I’ve cried allover my keyboard, it’s time to get back to menu planning. I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for THREE years now, and with your support, I can keep going! I love hearing all of your comments every month, and seeing how my menus are helping you and your family make dinner time easy.
I am calling this my Back-To-School Menu because every weekday recipe is simple to make, and is ready in no time. If your kids are anything like Anthony, he is ravenous after school… like a 16 year old football player or something… the child just doesn’t stop wanting to eat! And once school starts, the kid is even hungrier. So, to make my life easier, and to get him fed quicker, I have included all sorts of quick and easy recipes.
Like in previous months, I shop around to get the best deal on my groceries. By shopping in bulk, I can save a lot of money by utilizing my freezer. Most of my canned goods, and pantry items come from Walmart. It’s amazing how much you’ll save by shopping at Walmart for these types of items. For example, Barilla pasta is $1.59 at my local Safeway and at Walmart it is $1.24, and $1 on sale. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but that little bit keeps adding up, and makes a huge difference in your grocery bill. I also shop my pantry before shopping for groceries each week/month.
