Here is the fact of the day about the Food Bank and their mission to fight hunger!

Today’s Fact:

The Food Bank warehouses are in Raleigh, Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Wilmington, and Southern Pines.

Now here’s a little bit of information about each branch!

Durham:
708 Gilbert Street
Durham, NC  27701

Greenville:

Greenville, NC 27834

The Food Bank at Greenville operates two trucks that traveled over 53,000 miles last year. New Bern:

New Bern, NC 28560

Raleigh:

This branch serves 13 counties; Duplin, Franklin, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Nash, Sampson, Wake, Warren, and Wayne.  In 2011, over 18.6 million pounds of food was distributed to 279 agencies in those counties. The Food Bank at Raleigh operates 16 trucks that traveled over 495,100 miles last year. Volunteers donated over 73,138 hours of their time last year: equivalent to over 35 full-time employees (Food Bank CENC).  In these counties, there are over 233,694 individuals are at risk of hunger; 79,990 are children and over 11% are 65 years and over.  Do your part to help, and donate to your counties food bank today by clicking here:  http://www.foodbankcenc.org/site/PageServer?pagename=donate

Sandhills:

Wilmington:

Wilmington, NC 28401

The Wilmington branch serves Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties, distributing food to over 61,000 individuals who are at risk of hunger; over 18,000 are children and 12% are 65 years and over.
