Yesterday was a long, long day, so I didn’t get a chance to post the fact of the day! Hunger Action Month is halfway over, and there is still so much we can do to help fight hunger.
I am in the process of setting up a fundraising campaign to help raise money for the Food Bank and for fighting hunger in our community. I am a food blogger, and I love food, and sometimes take it for granted and forget sometimes how people struggle with hunger in our communities. For some people, it’s paying the bills, or eating dinner. The bills and the rent always seem to take precedence, so that they have a roof over their heads. With a donation to the Food Bank, $1.00 can equal $10.00 or FIVE meals.
34% (over 190,000) of those at risk for hunger in the Food Bank’s service area are children.
The Food Bank offers programs for these kids, who are in need called Kids Meals and More. Kids Meals & More is the umbrella for three main programs that not only offer children a meal, but so much more: Kids Cafe, Weekend Power Pack (formerly the Backpack Program), and Kids Summer Meals (formerly the Summer Food Service Program). http://www.foodbankcenc.org/site/PageServer?pagename=programs_kmm
