Do you believe in
Sunday Supper? Everyone around the table, talking about how their week was and what they are looking forward to for the next week. Unfortunately, traditional Sunday Supper is not common place anymore and we have replaced it with convenient, take-out meals, going out to a restaurant with our devices in hand – not even talking to each other. January is National Sunday Supper Month, and the second Sunday of January marks National Sunday Supper Day.
As a kid, Sunday Suppers were always my favorite, and on special occasions, I even got to have my whole family together on Sunday. It was something I always enjoyed; everyone together, talking to each other, sharing stories, giving hugs and kisses, and most importantly, just being able to spend the time together. It is something that I have always wanted to carry on with my own family, and now it’s a goal of mine in life to have my entire family together for dinner, or a celebration or something. I want them all there both mine and DJ’s side of the family – even everyone up in NJ. I want to feel them all!
January is National Sunday Supper Month, it has inspired me to embrace the past, and family suppers and to continue them with my family which is why January 10th will start off a year-long series featuring a new Sunday Supper every week. Spending time together as a family is so important, and Sunday Supper is a great way to wind down from a hectic week, and enjoy your loved ones – device free.
Cell phones at the table during Sunday Supper bother me, can you tell?
It doesn’t matter if supper is a frozen pizza warmed up, or a full turkey dinner – the important part is spending time together as a family, and carrying on traditions that we had as kids with our kids. Most of the time,
Sunday Supper means Sunday Gravy in our house which is ! Whether we’re having Grandma’s CrockPot Spaghetti Sauce Spaghetti and Meatballs, or Fresh Homemade Pasta, or leftovers from the weekend, Sunday Supper is such a special time for our family.
