Alas… Summer! June’s Menu is filled with summery dishes that you, your kids and your wallet will love! This months menu has a month of kid-friendly dinners for $221.83!
Having a Costco membership has saved me a ton of money. Although our shopping trips there usually end up being $100+, we’re usually stocked up on meat and other groceries for the month. I love how I can get a huge block (2.5 lbs) of Tillamook cheese there for only $9.95! It saves me so much money – especially with the amount of cheese that we eat. There are so many other great options at Costco to help with your grocery budget too.
Another thing that saves me money is shopping around. I find that I get the best deal on my dairy and meat at Costco, best deals on canned goods at Walmart, best deal on veggies at Sprouts, and the miscellaneous things I look for at my other local grocery stores and shop their sales. Shopping sales is a great way to stock up too. Like for us, we eat A LOT of tacos, so when I see taco shells go on sale at my local grocery store for $1 a box, I buy 5 – 10 boxes – however many I have room for. Whatever your go-to meal is, stock up on the ingredients when they go on sale!
Also, if you have a garden, use your own fresh herbs. I grow basil, cilantro, thyme, rosemary, parsley and even my own green onions. Growing your own herbs will save you a lot of money in the long run, and at the end of the year, you can dry it all out, and have fresh dried herbs until the spring! Unless you live in Florida, then you’ll have fresh herbs year round! Ohhh how I miss the beach.. Back to menu planning and saving money… You can grow your fresh herbs indoors too in a window sill that gets great light.
Our grill has been a huge inspiration to my menu planning and just my overall cooking. The grill has really opened up a lot of doors leading to great new kid-approved recipes! I have included all of the recipes for the month is a printable file at the bottom of the page. Any NEW recipe for the month will be shared as the month progresses to keep content fresh!
This month, I divided up the amount of bulk items to each weeks grocery list. Use the monthly list to purchase in bulk, and the weekly lists if you don’t have much space to store groceries, or if you prefer shopping in bulk. For the most part, I like to get everything I need for the month in one trip and just shop weekly for things like veggies and fresh dairy. In the grocery lists, you’ll notice that for example I list a 16 oz frozen corn, but you don’t see this on the monthly menu – this is because I chose a size of frozen corn that would meet your WEEKLY needs.
