Get Ready For Back To School In Only 25 Minutes With These Easy Make Ahead Homemade Pot Stickers

Homemade Pot Stickers are one of favorite foods and are so easy to make!  Only 25 minutes and 3 easy steps and dinner is done!v

We love pot stickers and usually get them when we are at a restaurant, but as delicious as pot stickers can be from a restaurant, nothing compares to the homemade ones.  Homemade Pot Stickers are so easy to make, and best of all they are cheap!  Goyza (pot sticker) wrappers cost around $2.00 – enough to make 36 pot stickers.  We also use pork stew meat in this recipe – it’s nice and fatty and is easy to chop up/grind yourself.  I love grinding my own chicken and pork, it’s so much cheaper than in the store, and I can sneak in veggies at the same time!

Pot stickers are so easy to make, it doesn’t take long to make a double batch.  I like making 50-60 at a time, and freezing them for easy snacks or dinners later in the month.  Just place the uncooked pot stickers on a cookie sheet lined with parchment and freeze over night.  Put frozen pot stickers in labeled zip lock bags.  I like to make a couple snack bags – or 8-10 pot stickers each and 15-20 for dinner.  These pot stickers also make a great appetizer!

Ingredients:

1 pkg goyza wrappers
1 lb ground pork or stewing pork (substitute chicken)
3 green onions/chives, sliced
2 tbsp garlic
1 tbsp fresh ginger
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp white pepper
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 cup shredded cabbage
soy sauce or ponzu, for dipping

Directions:

Combine ground pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, white pepper, soy sauce and cabbage.  Mix together like you would for meatballs – until all of the ingredients are combined.  If grinding your own pork, click here to learn how to grind your own pork

To assemble, place the goyza wrappers on a work surface.  Place 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture into the center of each wrapper. use your finger and rub the edges of the wrappers with water.  Fold the dough in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape, pinching the edges to seal.

Working in batches (unless you have a large pan), heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium heat.  Add potstickers in a single layer and cook until golden and crisp, about 3 minutes per side.

Serve right away with soy sauce or ponzu sauce.

To cook from frozen:  Pour 1/2 cup water in a large pan.  Place frozen pot stickers in a single layer.  Bring pot to a simmer and cover with a lid, let steam 3 minutes or until the water has evaporated.  Add 3 tbsp oil to the pan, and swirl around with pot stickers to evenly distribute oil among the bottom of the pot stickers.  Cook over medium heat for 3 minutes per side.

TO MAKE AHEAD

Follow recipe directions to assemble pot stickers.  Freeze uncooked pot stickers in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment.  Freeze over night.  Transfer frozen pot stickers to labeled ziplock bags.  Divide up however you wish – we usually do some snack bags, and some dinner bags.  To cook from frozen, pour 1/2 cup water in a large pan.
