Things I Find Relaxing

I didn’t write last weeks list, because to be honest, I’m not too into fashion, and do not know who my fashion icons are. I mean, I like pearls, Tiffany jewelry and Coach purses – but that is basically the extent of my “fashion”. I’d rather wear a long flowy tie-dyed dress that was made by a small company.
This weeks list did get me thinking though – about what I find relaxing. I do not have much time to relax anymore – my Anthony keeps me going. If I only had half the energy that Anthony has. He just goes, goes, goes – and never gets tired. But, I did manage to think of a few things that I find relaxing. When I get the chance to take a hot bubble bath, I find myself going to Lush, buying a new soap and a bath bomb, and then I pour myself a glass of wine, and drop into the bath with a good book. Ahhhh… so relaxing.
I know it sounds funny, but The Sopranos is another relaxing thing for me. I love that show. D.J. and I have watched the entire series about five times together, and catch the odd episode here and there. It just calms me down, and the story captivates me every time – even though I know what is coming.
And, of course – cooking relaxes me. I just love being in the kitchen and creating recipes, and trying new ingredients, and seeing what flavors blend together well – and what just doesn’t work. There is something soooo soothing about the sound of a piece of meat hitting a hot frying pan, and sizzling away. But, my favorite part of it all is watching my families faces as they enjoy dinner, and watching them savor the flavors. Knowing that I made my family happy and full definitely makes me able to relax.
What do you like to do to relax?
Man, it’s been hectic, and I haven’t even had a chance to bake… Making this list was tough. It was almost like I forgot what baking was!
I have to admit, I’ve been a little behind with my lists, and well everything in general, but I’m thinking that’s because of Anthony. He’s almost two, and is just a little ball of energy. In the past, he would take two naps a day, so I would get two chances to post – considering I didn’t have to do laundry, or clean or cook, or anything else. Now, he’s down to one nap, and it’s never very long. By the time I get going, he’s up! But that is okay? Because there is not much more in life more rewarding than that first hug and kiss after he wakes up!
What is your favorite thing to bake? Do you have the time to bake? Share with me – I love hearing how other moms just do it all! You are te women who inspire me!

I missed last weeks list – Oops! But, this weeks list got me thinking about breakfast, and my favorite meals, and my favorite places to go. When I am up north, I like Pork Roll for breakfast, but when I am down south, biscuits and gravy top the chart – maybe with a little country ham!
I’ve actually been eating breakfast lately too, which is a huge change for me. I usually don’t eat until noon or later, but all this awesome juice I’ve been drinking and my fancy new juicer, makes me ambitious to drink more than coffee for breakfast!
I love to read. Finding time to read is the problem, especially on Tuesday’s when Justified is on. My heart beats out of my chest for Deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens. He is totally my celebrity crush! And the show is pretty awesome. Especially when TImothy Olyphant wears that sexy cowboy hat. D.J. laughs at me every week because I get so excited. I watch the last weeks episode every week before the new one comes on, and I get right into it.
Well anyways, when I do get to read I read all sorts of different things. This week’s list was about Great things I’ve Read Lately, and this is the list I have compiled. It’s all books, but there have been quite a few extremely interesting articles and blogs that I have read lately too.
Janet Evanovich is my favorite author… can you tell? I’ve read every book that she has written, but these are the two newest ones of hers I have read. There are a couple new ones in the “Wicked” and “Stephanie Plum” series that I haven’t read! I’ll be on it soon though… if Raylan doesn’t distract me! hahah.

This weeks list had me looking around on Pinterest and Google for pictures of flowers, and info about growing my own! I’ve always wanted a little green house where I can grow flowers and herbs and my own veggies, yet I kill every plant I get, so this is a dream that has been put on hold. I love flowers, but defiantly suck at growing them or even keeping them alive after D.J. buys them for me! Last week for Valentines Day, D.J. bought me some beautiful lillies. They are still alive – believe it or not.
This weeks list also made me thing a bunch about each flower, and why it is one of my favorites. Yellow lillies have always been a personal favorite of mine, they remind me of spring, and all the things that go along with the season. As I made my list, I had to take a few minutes and remember my grandma. The second flower (or my second favorite) is a pink rose. My grandmother loved roses, and I always remember my granddad bringing her pink roses all of the time. It always made her day, and he loved doing it for her. They even had pink roses planted in their garden. You know, I’m surprised that she never candied some flower petals and then dip them in chocolate, or grind up flowers into her chocolate. Haha! My grandfather always brought me home flowers too, which I loved because I felt special like my grandma did when she got flowers. He used to go raspberry and strawberry picking a lot, and there was a little pond/lake by the place he picked berries, and would always bring me home the most beautiful pussy willows that grew wild around the pond.
These lists have been great to take a moment aside and think about things that I don’t take enough time for. If you want to join, or see other peoples lists, click here.

I spend a lot of time drinking coffee. I didn’t realize how much I actually drank until I did this weeks list. I was thinking about my day, and I jotted down what I do. Most of my day involves drinking coffee! Hahah. While Anthony and I are reading, I drink coffee. As I write this, I am drinking coffee. I think it’s safe to say, I like coffee.
I love snacking…. to be honest, I think I love snacking more than I love to eat real meals. It’s just so satisfying, and I just love eating all night. I think it’s because I was always at my grandmothers house as a child, and she loved to snack. There was always chocolate, or popcorn out at her house, and it was just very convenient to shovel a mouthful of goodness while watching my favorite TV shows.
I was at work last night when I saw that this list was posted. I actually got my notification from AliMoonGoddess, and got super excited thinking about my own list. The whole way home I contemplated about what snacks would actually make the list, and which ones I just enjoyed every once in a while.
Food is always on my mind, and I am always thinking of ways I can make something different, or how I can make something that I have never tried before. Food is a huge part of my family, and almost everything we do revolves around food (well, it was chocolate with my Nan). So this weeks list, came down to these snacks:
Now there are defiantly other items that are on my list like:
- pickles (any kind)
- cheese and crackers
- roasted red peppers
- marinated artichokes
- black olives
- potato chips
But, the ones I wrote down are my absolute favorite. I have to say I miss Tim Horton’s too. Their coffee was so convenient, cheap and I always had one in my cold little hands when I lived in Canada. It really was the best snack – and the source of my caffeine addiction.

I discovered this last week from another blog that I follow, Taste of MoonGoddess who discovered it from MeetMeAtMikes. Basically, every week a new list is going to be posted, and you take time to create your version of the list. MeetMeAtMikes has links to other people who are doing their own variety of the lists, and #52Lists is the twitter hashtag if you’re into Tweetin’.
So, I’m about a month behind – but that’s okay. I am going to start with this weeks list, Favorite Smells.
Smells bring me back to memories, and make me reminisce just a little. I don’t know why, but every time I smell chocolate, I think of my grandma, and her kitchen. She was always creating something with chocolate. Her house even smelt of chocolate – I don’t ever actually remember another smell in that house. There was chocolate everywhere. Everywhere.
I also like the smells of essential oils – and all of the essential oil blends that are out there. I have so many essential oils, and my collection keeps on growing!
I really think that this weeks list was perfect because it ties into a project that I have been working on to share with my followers. And that is a whole list, with images of aromatherapy essential oil blends, for all different purposes. They should be done by the beginning of next week – just in case someone cares.
